Weekend Recap

Friday night we went to see Dierks Bentley! He was playing in San Jose with Jerrod Neiman and the Eli Young Band. It was a great show! I wasn't a big fan of his before but after I saw him in August with Luke Bryan I really started liking him. I even made a playlist on Spotify called "Dierks Bentley Concert Prep"! The venue was a really small auditorium with an open floor and it was interesting to watch couples dance. I have determined that it is cute when couples dance at country concerts when the guy will dip and spin the girl around and it is not cute when they are like grinding up against each other and touching each other in places I don't need to see. There was a mix of both at this show. But Dierks was amazing and we had a good time.

  

Before the show we went to this place called Iguanas which we saw on the show Man vs Food. the guy on the show had something called a Burritozilla which is 5 pound 18 inch burrito. I just had the regular super burrito and it was alright. I perfer the burritos from my "home" Mexican take out restaurant. But Iguanas was voted #67 on the Travel Channel's 101 Tastiest Places to Chow Down in the Nation. I also thought I would unlock a certain badge on foursquare by going there but apparently I need to go to three place that Man vs Food has been.

Saturday was a big day. Earlier in the week I was looking at the badges available on foursquare and I saw an ESPN College GameDay badge. I knew that College GameDay was going to be Palo Alto at Stanford and I really wanted that badge so I thought maybe I would just go to Game Day but not go to the game. The more I thought about it the more I want to go the actual game. I know my love for USC is apparent on the blog and if you follow me on twitter but one thing you don't know is that Stanford is a family favorite. My brother and dad love the school. We have gone to the USC at Stanford game for the last three times USC has played at Stanford (they play here in even years) When I was little we had season tickets and one of my most prized possesion is this....

I had convinced my brother to go to the game with me after I found some reasonably priced tickets on craigslist. It was fun going to the game with my brother but not fun watching Stanford lose. I would have much rather have had Oregon lose. I was able to unlock the GameDay badge and it is one of my favorites!

I love to hate the Stanford Band. They are just all sorts of wrong. The Tree is kinda funny though. The band's pregame routine had to do with the Madden video game so here the Tree is playing Madden with some band members.

Stanford's captains. Andrew Luck is #12. Sad to see his Heisman hopes go down in one game.

 

One of the interesting things I saw that day was the Oregon Duck out of his costume. We were walking to meet up with one of my brother's friends and we walked by Oregon's cheerleaders and I saw this guy with them carrying a big green bag so I have to assume that inside that bag was the costume. I mean what else could have been in such a large bag that was being carried by a shorter guy?

I also have a love-hate relationship with the Oregon Duck. I mean he is a rival so I have to hate him but he is pretty funny when he's on GameDay and also his ESPN SportsCenter commercial is hilarious. Hope everybody is having a good week so far! xoxo

My Weekend: Part II

While we were driving up to Tahoe on Friday, we heard a commercial on the radio for a Luke Bryan/Dierks Bentley concert. We proceeded to freak out because it was on Sunday. We weren't sure how we missed hearing about it. The concert was in Santa Rosa which is about an hour north of where we live. So I immediately tried to find out any info about the show on my phone. We decided that we would go since I have been totally loving Luke Bryan and was slightly mad he wouldn't be coming anywhere near here for his CMT tour. My sister is a bug Dierks Bentley fan and it had been a while since he saw him last.

The show, Sonoma County Country Music BBQ, was at the fairgrounds and we decided to get the VIP tickets so we could have the option to sit in bleachers and be close to the stage without having to get there early. The gates opened at 2 but Luke didn't go on until 7 and Dierks was going on at 8:30. We left Tahoe around 1:30 and there was a lot of traffic. We eventually got to the fairgrounds at 5:45. We got inside and went to the VIP area where the rude security guard told us we needed wristbands to get in that area which we didn't have and was never told we needed. So we headed back to the gate and had to go back to the ticket booth and tell them the problem. At first I was worried that they wouldn't give us the wristbands but they eventually did.

Back inside we were able to get in the VIP section and scoped out a spot for Luke Bryan. I was so excited to see him. I got some great video and a few good pictures.

 

 

After Luke, Dierks Bentley came on and I'm not a big fan but after the show I might have decided I liked him more than I previously did.

Dierks was in Vegas on Friday and they found this big boot so they brought him up on stage. Dierks and I even had a twitter convo about the boot.

My Weekend: Part I

Hope you all have survived Monday!

This past weekend my sister and I headed up to Lake Tahoe to see Ms. Miranda Lambert and Little Big Town. But before we even made it to Tahoe we made a few pit stops. First we stopped at the outlets in Folsom because my sister wanted to stop at Bass to get some shoes. I bought 3 pairs of flats there. It was buy 1 get 2 free, how could I pass that up? Next we stopped at DSW because I wanted a pair of boots I had seen on their website. Luckily they fit perfectly! I also picked up a casual pair of denim boat shoes. So that is a total of 5 new pairs of shoes in one day! #Obsessed

I had big plans for this weekend. Like we were going to do a lot of things but we just ended up taking it easy. My big brother lives in Tahoe so we stayed at his house which was great except that he doesn’t turn on his heater and it was freezing the first night we were there. After my brother got off of work, he went to get some food before he left for the weekend.

Miranda and Little Big Town were performing at the Outdoor “Arena” at Harvey’s Casino. I put arena in quotes because it was a stage setup in the back parking lot with bleachers and folding chairs. Even though the “arena” setup was weak the backdrop was gorgeous. The pine trees surrounded the area and the sunset was pretty.

They sang this amazing cover of "Born This Way". It sounded so much better than the Lady Gaga version!

I was having major camera issues this night. The "good" camera ran out of batteries and wasn't even taking good pictures. So these were the only good ones I had of Miranda. 

So Miranda starts talking about getting married and then you can tell this tall shadowy figure is coming on stage and it's Blake Shelton! The crowd went crazy. So do I! I tried taking pictures but they all came out blurry. :( The only thing I do have is this small little snipet of them singing together. They were so adorable. Love them!

Saturday we headed to the “other side of the island” as my sister called it. South Lake Tahoe where my brother lives is where the major casinos are but I have always been more partially to the North Shore. Our destination for the day was King’s Beach. The drive from the south shore to the north shore is so pretty. It was a clear, beautiful day.

It was around 11 when we got to King’s Beach and I wanted to try this place for breakfast I had read about on Yelp. The Log Cabin Caffe was even on the Rachael Ray show-there was a sign that said so. The wait was going to be 45 minutes so we went outside and waited but luckily every time the hostess would call somebody’s name they weren’t there so we ended up only waiting about 20 minutes. The wait was worth it. My sister had pancakes which were really good. I had a “scramble-in” with avocado, sausage, and cheddar cheese and it was delish! Def one of the best breakfasts ever. The portions are huge too so if you eat there don’t plan on eating for the rest of the day.

After breakfast we went to the beach, only problem there was no parking for King’s Beach but luckily we found this little side street with a tiny beach called Secline Beach. It was nice because it wasn’t crowded at all. When I was in the water I looked towards King’s Beach and it was packed! There were 3 families on the beach with us. One had two young teenage boys who I dubbed Prince Harry and William because they reminded me of the Royals. (Again #Obsessed) The beach was great except for these “burn-out” locals with their crazy dogs that were running around the beach.

Jason Aldean Concert!

Last night, my sister and I headed to Shoreline to see Mr. Jason Aldean. We decided to pay $20 for VIP parking which was the best decision ever. When we went to Tim McGraw it took us an hour to get out of the parking lot, last night it only took us 15 minutes. We got there early enough to catch both opening acts.

First up was Thompson Square!

Next was Clay Walker! I love his song "She Won't Be Lonely Long"

Another reason why we thought it would be a good idea to get the VIP parking was because the show was SOLD OUT! Right before Jason went on stage I looked behind me and this is what I saw...just 22,000 other country fans.

He was so good and got the crowd pumped for this guy!

 

 

 

It was a great show! I know some of my pictures look the same but I couldn't decide which one I liked better so I thought I would post both.

Seeing Graham & Getting Marley

Hope everybody had a good weekend! I didn't do too much except for on Friday night, my sister and I went to see one of my favorite musicians, Graham Colton, play in the city. He was playing at this place that I have driven past my whole life but have never gone into so it was quite exciting. He was playing at Hotel Utah which has this little performing area that was pretty cozy. When we got there all the seats were taken so we had to stand, NBD except for the fact that I had worn my cute Madden Girl boots that hurt.

Graham played for I think an hour. It was a nice acoustic set. Afterwards he was staying to sell CDs and sign them. Originally I wasn't going to get anything but I needed to sit down before we walked to the car because my feet were in so much pain. Graham started to sell the CDs right in front of where we sat down so we proceeded to watch everybody buy there CDs and talk to Graham. It was interesting people watching. Once the line died down we decide to get our pictures with him and have him autograph our tickets and I bought one of his EPs. I have seen him 4 times and each time I have had him autograph something so I really needed to get something signed.

 

I bought the following clutch from Marley Lilly on Thursday and it came in the mail today (Monday). It was so fast! I was not expecting it especially since it had to cross the entire country. But isn't it totes adorbs? It reminds me of a mini Longchamp clutch. I definitely recommend this product. I may even buy a few more.
