Five Question Friday

I'm doing a quick post today. I am doing major blog catch up this weekend!
I'm linking up for 5QF since I really wanted to answer all 5 questions today.

1. Do you prefer your ice cream in a bowl or in a cone?
I would choose a cone over a bowl if the cone is a waffle cone or a regular cone. I'm not a fan of sugar cones.

2. What three things do you love the smell of?
Clean sheets, coconut scented candles, and anything pumpkin.

3. Giftcards or no? (In regards to gift giving...)
I would prefer to give actual items as gifts but sometimes the people I buy gifts for don't want anything specific so then I give giftcards. I would rather give giftcards than cash. Cash is not really a gift in my opinion.

4. What sports did you play in high school if any and do you still play them?
I played water polo my first two years. I was on the swim team every year except senior year. I stopped doing each because of the people who were or weren't on the teams. It stopped being fun when certain people graduated and weren't on the swim team anymore. I was more of a swimmer than a water polo player. I still love going swimming. I like watching water polo but not playing it. Some girls are vicious in water polo games!

5. Were you in band in high school? What instrument did you play?
I was in the band freshmen year and sophmore year and I played the clarinet (which I still have in the back of my closet). I didn't really like playing because I wasn't good and I hated the boy who sat next to (he was so annoying!). But the best part of being in the band? I got to go to Hawaii my freshmen year and Disneyland my sophmore year. So it was worth it for those reasons only.

Have a great weekend everybody! xo

Game Day - Today?

Today is my gameday! USC is playing Cal tonight in San Francisco. This is special because Cal is having their stadium renovated/earthquake retrofitted and is playing all their home games in San Francisco at AT&T Park which is were the San Francisco Giants play. I am too excited to go to the game. I am hoping for a big win tonight!

I bought my tickets through StubHub because I just decided to go to the game a week ago. I'm worried that the scan on the tickets won't work and I won't be able to get in. But hopefully that won't happen!

OOTN!

USC Night Game Outfit

I am really excited to wear the hair bow that's in my Polyvore! I bought it on Etsy months ago and it is so cute. I didn't wear it the season opener because I wore my hair up but I will be sporting it tonight.

Think Pink

October is in full swing. I'm sure you all know that this month is BCA month and the color of the month is pink. There are so many fun pink items that you can get to help support research for the cure. I love all the pink and want everything.

Pink Swiffer (I bought one at Wal-Mart)

Friday's Fancies - Come Fly With Me

It's the end of the week and it's time for Friday's Fancies again with the lovely {av} at long distance loving.

(How amazing is that banner? Thanks {av}!!!)

One of the new shows I am watching this fall is Pan-Am. My outfit today is inspired by the show. I love a tweed pattern and think this dress plus a colorful cardigan is perfect for cooler temperatures. I added a large bag which could be used as a carry on to hold your passport and other travel essentials. I finished the outfit with a cute pair of heels that you could easily slip on and off when you go through the security line.
Friday's Fancies- Come Fly with Me

Normally I never wear anything this glamourous when I travel. I would love to go back in time and experience air travel the "Pan-Am" way instead of the Southwest way (there's nothing wrong with Southwest service, I usually just don't like Southwest passengers). Head over to long distance loving and create your own Friday's Fancies to share with {av} and the rest of us!

Cupcake a Month

I love baking in case you didn't know. My favorite thing to bake is cupcakes because they're so fun and cute! I decided to bake a monthly cupcake to bring to work (so I won't have to eat all of them). Each month will be a different cupcake that is inspired by the month.

For September I made Cinnamon Apple Cupcakes with Caramel Frosting since fall starts in September and nothing says fall like apples.

I used this recipe from Duncan Hines. The only thing I did differently was used a Smuckers Cinnamon Apple Sundae Topping instead of making the apple mixture in the recipe. The batter smelled so good!  I thought they were a little tart which I attributed to using the sundae topping instead of the real thing. But everybody else said the cupcakes tasted good so I have to believe them. I did think they tasted better the following day. Can't wait to make my October/Halloween cupcakes!

First Time Pinning

I am linking up for my very first "Oh, How Pinteresting!" hosted by the lovely Michelle!

google

I am definitely a pinterest newbie. I have recently become obsessed though and I hope I'm pinning things correctly. I am still getting the hang of things but if you would like to follow me click here.

Since it finally feels like fall around here (it's been raining the past couple days!) I thought my pins should be fall themed.

I must try to make this: Pumpkin Pie White Hot Chocolate. It sounds delish!

I must make this too: cinnamon pumpkin pull apart bread!

Some of my favorite fall outfits!

This is true!

Halloween Ribbon Wreath

Two weekends ago, I decided I wanted to make a ribbon wreath for Halloween. So I headed to Michael's to pick up my materials since they were having a sale on ribbon. I used instructions from The Picky Apple but I guess I didn't read them thoroughly because she says to "avoid sheer ribbon unless you enjoy getting hot glue all over your fingers." I didn't. This resulting in me burning my fingers numerous times.

If you plan on making one I just have two things to share with you.

1. Buy a TON of ribbon. I ran out of ribbon and then had to go back to Michael's to get more. Then I ran out again but I just wanted to finish the wreath and not have to get more ribbon so I just didn't cover the outside and inside with a lot of ribbon and it still came out fine. It's best to have more than you need and return the unused spools then not having enough and having to go back to the store. The amount of ribbon you need depends on how full looking you want your wreath to be. I wanted a very full wreath so I used a lot of spools (I think about 18 spools of 3yd!).

2. It will take a long time. Luckily my 7 year niece is smart or I would have been cutting each spool of ribbon individually. She had the brilliant idea to cut a couple of spools at the same time which was a bit of a time saver. Gluing the ribbon into loops took a long time since I was using the sheer ribbon and the glue would go through and burn my fingers. Then gluing the loops onto the wreath took a long time because I spent a long time deciding exactly where I wanted each ribbon to go.

Here is the finished product!

I'm really happy with the way it looks. I love the orange glitter ribbon because it adds the right amount of sparkle to the wreath.

Now I am going to make these ribbon wreaths for every holiday and season. I even went to Michael's today to buy Christmas ribbon so I can start on my next wreath!
