You Say It's Your Birthday!

One of my favorite bloggers, Michelle at a little bit of this & that, is having another fun link up!

For this link up, you blog about your birthday! So here it goes...

My birthday is November 23rd which is also my BFF, Eric's half birthday. We figured it was destiny that we would be besties since we are "halfers." I'm a Sagittarius and I remember when I was younger I had this nightgown with the symbol of Sagittarius but it was Disney themed. It was really weird looking back on it but I think it was one of my favorite nightgowns to wear.

For the longest time I didn’t think I shared my birthday with anybody famous except for the guy who play Michael in Grease 2.
Not super famous unless you are like me and absolutely love that movie. But still he’s no Tom Hanks. Finally a few years ago I learned I share my birthday with one of the most famous teens in the world. Ms. Miley Cyrus.
One last person I share my birthday with this gem (hahaha) ...
Snooki!

Anyways, I was born the day after Thanksgiving in 1984. Since my birthday is around Thanksgiving I usually have the day off. If not, then I take the day off. Who likes working on their birthday? Since the date of Thanksgiving changes every year, a few times my birthday has actually landed on Thanksgiving. This is kinda fun but also not because for Thanksgiving you want pumpkin pie but you need cake on your birthday right? Speaking of cake... for most of the birthdays we celebrate in our family if it's not homemade then we will usually get a rum cake from an Italian bakery in San Francisco called Dianda's. I actually prefer the strawberry cake but strawberries aren't in season in November.
I remember one year, we went to eat Thanksgiving dinner at my grandma's house and my aunts had gotten me a cake with a turkey on it to celebrate my birthday! A few years ago when my birthday was on Thanksgiving, my sister made me a 3D turkey cake. It was so cool and looked like it belonged on Ace of Cakes. I'm bummed I don't have a picture of it. When you cut into the cake, it had dark and white "meat" or chocolate and vanilla cake. It was one of the coolest cakes ever.

The birthstone for November is Citrine or Topaz. Now I'm not that big a fan of yellow/brown and even less of a fan for that color gemstone. I love baby blue so I decided that I would adopt blue topaz as my birthstone. My mom gave me this really pretty blue topaz ring one year for my birthday.
The flower for the month of November is the chrysanthemum. So pretty! I would love a bouquet of these pink ones!

For my tenth and eleventh birthdays, I had slumber parties at a local Embassy Suites. I remember them since they were so unique. We went swimming in the indoor pool, got snacks from the nightly reception, and ordered movies from the tv. After these parties, all of my other birthdays have been more low key. On my actual birthday (aside from celebrating with friends on the weekends) my family and I usually celebrate by going out to breakfast and then eat dinner at home. We try going out for dinner but my family are the fussiest people when it comes to going out to eat. I can really down when people aren't pleased and since they is no pleasing everybody when we go out for dinner, it's just best we eat at home.
If you are like me then you love to get birthday cards. I even used to have a "greeting card business" when I was younger. I want to get more into crafting and decided I would rekindle my greeting card business, haha. I would love to send my followers homemade birthday cards. So if you are interested in receiving a card from me, e-mail me (pearlspinkpolkadots@gmail.com) or leave me a comment with your e-mail and I'll contact you!
