Super Bowl Afterthoughts

As a huge football, I love the Super Bowl. I watch for the game first, then the commercials. I was so happy for the Packers. They are one of my favorite teams. They were the first team I really loved on my own (since I'm from the Bay Area I was instilled to love the San Francisco 49ers). Lately I had liked teams because I liked one or two players on the team (usually if they went to USC) but Green Bay was a team I just loved for no expliciable reason. True fact: when the Packers won the Super Bowl in 1997 I was watching QVC after the game and they were selling Super Bowl memorbillia, I made my mom buy me a gold plated football card of Brett Favre. I loved him and the Packers and have love the team ever since. So glad they won!

I just wanted to share this cute picture of my two favorite current Packers

On to the fun stuff of the game...

1. Food!

Everything we had was so yummy! We had great appetizers. I made cocktail meatballs in my new crockpot which turned out really good. I made them for Christmas but the ones yesterday turned out better. I also made potato skins which were actually really simple to make. We also had bean dip, guacamole, and cold cuts/cheese/veggie platter.

Homemade Potato Skins!

 My Plate!

My Dad BBQ'ed tri tip for dinner which was so much better than the pizza we had originally planned on getting.

After the game was over, we celebrated with a cake. It was a simple yellow cake with chocolate frosting which is one of the tasiest combinations in my opinion. For the writing, we used this cupcake icing can that comes with tips because that's all we had and it didn't go on as smooth as we hoped. But it got the point across.

2. Music!

I was so disappointed that Christina Aguilera messed up the words of the National Anthem. I thought she had started out strong and I was loving it but then she messed up and it never recovered. Her hair was also messy and her outfit looked like it didn't fit her properly. I think if she had not messed up it could have been one of the better National Anthem performances of the Super Bowl. At least it was memorable?

I know a lot of people didn't like the Halftime performance but I actually really liked it. Such an improvement over recent years with all the musicians geared towards 50 year old men. The sound was really bad but it was not the Black Eyed Peas' fault, it was the sound guy. He couldn't get it right. I would be so mad at him. It's the biggest stage of all to perform on and he can't get it right. I was pleasantly surprised to see Slash and Usher! But I guess it wasn't that big of a surprise since my sister knew that they were suppose to be in the show. Did anybody notice that the V in the LOVE wasn't all the way lit? Again with all the money and practice they put into the show you think they could get it right.

I read that Fergie wore over $2 million in Harry Winston jewels for the show. Jealous!

3. Commercials!

Here were my top 2 favorites

As somebody who loves tv sitcoms, I loved this commercial. And who doesn't love original 90210 clips?

I thought this one was so funny and cute at the end with the beaver.

Yesterday was a great way to start the week!

Okay first, your apps looked ah-maz-ing! Waaaay jealous over here! :) Second: I couldn't agree more on everything you said about the music! I totally noticed about the love not being all lit up...seriously? It's a billion dollar business! Ah well, it was still a good game! And last: I missed the beaver commercial yesterday so I'm glad you posted it today. I love the end! :) Okay, I think I got all that I wanted to say in here! Happy Monday!
